
Come out and take a Walk in the Park!
HAMPTON, NEWPORT NEWS, POQUOSON, WILLIAMSBURG, GLOUCESTER, JAMES CITY & YORK COUNTIES, VIRGINIA – November 26, 2013 - The Volunteer Center of the Virginia Peninsula in partnership with Newport News Parks and Recreation is preparing for the annual "Walk in the Park", – a family fun and fitness event. This one-night-only opportunity to walk through the Celebration in Lights is open to anyone wishing to participate. The Walk is also a wonderful holiday kick-off event for all to enjoy.
The Walk in the Park kicks off with plenty of holiday cheer on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Woodside High School in Newport News. Mrs. Claus has planned to attend and we hope even the very busy Santa himself will stop by. Tickets are $10.00 (Adult), $5.00 (Ages 12 and under), $8.00 (Military or Veteran w/ID) or $25 for groups of 5 people, children in arms 2 years and under are free. Sponsorships are also available at the following levels:
$1000: Name/Organization listed on Bus signage, event flyer, The Volunteer Center website, all media promotions
$500: Name/Organization listed on Bus signage, event poster
$100: Name/Organization listed on event poster
Proceeds support The Volunteer Center programs and help to meet the volunteer needs of 205 nonprofits, schools and local government programs in our communities. All participants enjoy the premier walk through the Celebration in Lights before it opens to cars and buses. Join hundreds of "Walk in the Park" participants, support The Volunteer Centers programs and ring in the holidays at Newport News Park.
