Another Day of Caring

September 2012
This year's "Day of Caring" will occur in September, the date is still yet to be determined. Volunteers will be helping to provide much needed labor for senior citizens in multiple communities to remain safe and secure in their homes. Click on the More Information link on the Main Menu About the VCVP page for your personal sign up form.
The Volunteer Center partners with United Way of the Virginia Peninsula to promote volunteerism on the Peninsula by matching people who want to help with local organizations who need them. This partnership is strongly manifested in the United Way annual Day of Caring - an opportunity for employees in the workplace to volunteer for a single day to work on community projects throughout our local area. Whether it is painting, landscaping, building a playground or revitalizing a neighborhood, this single day of difference is United Way's most popular annual event.
United Way couldn't be effective in our community without volunteers. Volunteers provide governance and oversight; evaluate agency programs; make funding decisions; and play an important role in our annual fundraising campaign.
