Training...

In partnership with the Leadership Development Network, The Volunteer Center is now offering classes in Leadership Development Training, Board Development and Diversity Training.  Instructors with over 20 years experience in leading people will be offering the classes.  For more information, contact the Volunteer Center at 757-262-0190 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Volunteer Center can also provide Age Sensitivity Training.  Developed by health care professionals, the training gives a "birds eye view" of the world of older adults through simulations to provide this perspective.  This training has been designed to give businesses first-hand experience on how older customers may be facing life's challenges of aging.  The program is designed for any agency or business wanting to attract and retain the aging market.  The Aging awareness program  provides a great platform for other service providers in the community to learn sensitivity for seniors.

The Volunteer Center of the Virginia Peninsula continues to offer training through seminars developed in conjunction with the Points of Light Institute, HandsOn Network and the Corporation for National & Community Service. Available classes include the Volunteer Management Training Series and Managing Spontaneous Volunteer in Times of Disaster. The classes are offered to area nonprofits for continuing the development of programs and services in our area.
