The Volunteer Center is BIG on family fun and fitness. Want to experience the Celebration in Lights up-close-and-personal? Join The Human Race and walk the 1.5 miles along the scenic route in Newport News Park. Pre-registration is required. Check out the FAQ link below for full information on the event. Start your holidays with a new family fun and fitness tradition! Annually held the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, this premier walk occurs on Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Meet at Woodside High School between 5 pm and 7 pm. Again, you MUST be pre-registered to attend. The Human Race is open only to registered participants.
As any group knows, raising the dollars to support your program can be one of the most time consuming and difficult parts of the job. We at The Volunteer Center of the Virginia Peninsula want to offer a fun way for your group to raise dollars, increase public awareness of your members and provide an evening of family fun and fitness as a reward for your efforts. Last year The Human Race raised $12,407 to benefit 25 local nonprofits, schools and communities of faith. Congratulations to the YWCA for raising $1,562 in their first year of participation! What a great way to support your program!

You can participate and enjoy the Human Race several ways. . .
1. Want to simply enjoy the premier walk through the Celebration in Lights with your family? Your entrance will support the programs of The Volunteer Center. Click on the Family Walk Form below. Print out the form, complete it, sign it and return it to The Volunteer Center. You just joined the Human Race!

2. Are you a nonprofit group wanting to raise funds through the Human Race? Click on the Nonprofit Commitment Form to get started by registering your nonprofit agency or group to receive funds. Only one person needs to submit this form. Click on the Fund Raising Participant Form to provide your group with a sample sponsor collection form to help them get started. Ask just five people to sponsor you at $5.00 each and you have raised $17.00 for your group! Use lots of these forms to raise lots of money for your nonprofit. You just joined the Human Race!

3. Are you a school group who will be using school bus transportation to the event? Click on the School Bus Commitment Form to register your school or school group to receive funds. Only one person needs to submit this form. Click on the School Bus Fundraising Form to provide your group with a sample sponsor collection form to help them get started. Ask just five people to sponsor you at $5.00 each and you have raised $20 for your school! Use lots of these forms to raise lots of money for your school group. You just joined the Human Race.
