About The Volunteer Center of the Virginia Peninsula

Maintaining a diverse network of qualified volunteers and connecting their capabilities with emerging needs of the residents and communities we serve.

On July 28, 2011, the Board of Directors and guests met at Riverwalk Restaurant for The Volunteer Center of the Virginia Peninsula Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition.  Special thanks was presented to Ashley Morris for her work as an Americorps VISTA in developing the Home Safety for Seniors program and her many volunteer hours with the Center.  Dr. A. Terry Morris was recognized for his extraordinary volunteer efforts for multiple nonprofits on the Peninsula.  Jim Craig was presented an award for his outstanding leadership as Board Chair from 2009-2011.  A new slate of officers and new Board members were voted in during the meeting as listed at the Board of Directors link at left.  An array of hors d'oeuvres and the beautiful water view made the event a success.

Teams of happy golfers participated in the second annual Golfing through the AGES on Friday, June 3, 2011 on the Marsh Hawk Course at Ford's Colony Country Club.  Beautiful weather helped make the day special.  Click here for a link to our wonderful sponsors.  Pictured are some of the golfers enjoying the day while members of the Youth Disaster/Safety Team, Ariel and Ashley - Charlotte and Adam drove carts around to encourage the participants.  To date the Team has home visited and safety assisted 80 vulnerable seniors and has an additional 88 referrals for this summer.  Thanks for Golfing through the AGES. . .   Additional support is ALWAYS needed.  Click on the Donate Now button to help Keep Seniors Safe
